Valentine's Day 2021 was one for the history books, and if love was in the air, for many across the southern United States, it was frozen. Two-time world champion steer wrestler Hunter Cure was badly injured at a qualifier event for RFD-TV's The American Rodeo. He had been recuperating and depending on others to help take care of his cattle at home. He had no idea how much that help would benefit him as the cold settled in. We start 2021 with NFR contestants Jess Pope and Colten Fritzlan, and their 2020 NFR was anything but average, no pun. While Charlie Daniels is no longer with us, he is still felt throughout the NFR with his voice and music and the people he's touched. Daniels has been recognized in the National Finals Rodeo's iconic Sunday Performance, otherwise known as Memorial Night. Charlie himself has performed many times that Sunday performance remembering cowboys that have passed expressing his love for rodeo. There have tributes far and wide recognizing Mr. Daniels since his passing, and we reflect with his long-time manager, David Corlew.
